I read once that English and European gardens are always planted keeping in mind the view from the INSIDE of the house.

I thought perhaps the creative gardeners who plan the beautiful gardens in Pella, Iowa, knew this principle.  So - when we were in Pella for TULIP TIME 2011, I took several photos through the windows from inside buildings in the Historical Village.

Through the window at the museum.  See the Pella GARDENER walking toward us?
