Cherry Mash  has been a favorite candy bar of mine since I was a child in the 50's.

Go figure.  I like Cherry Mash candy bars, but I don't like cherry pie.  Maybe because the filling of the Cherry Mash candy bar isn't as sour a a cherry pie.

Cherry Mash is delicious as a candy bar, and it makes a great topping when melted and poured over ice cream.

Once, I posted in an online adoption group that Cherry Mash was my favorite candy bar.  Many people around the United States had no idea what I was talking about.

So - I purchased several Cherry Mash candy bars; ate a few myself;  and mailed the rest to everyone in the adoption group who wanted to try one.

How about you?  Have you ever heard of the third oldest candy bar in the United States?

Have you ever tasted the nostalgic goodness of a Cherry Mash?

There's even a Cherry Mash Song!

This special song is written by Cherry Mash fan, Jim Salestrom, an Emmy-award-winning singer/songwriter.

The Chase Candy Company has been making fine candies since 1876, including the world-famous Cherry Mash, the third-oldest candy bar in the country.

The family operated candy factory is located in historic St. Joseph, Missouri ― home to another American legend, outlaw Jesse James.

Chase still uses time-tested recipes and the finest, freshest ingredients to make candy the old-fashioned way. They have, however, upgraded equipment, and they are  capable of making 72,000 Cherry Mash candy bars in a day.  They use more than 15 tons of crushed maraschino cherries each year.

Check out how they make up to 72,000 Cherry Mash candy bars each day.
