CHALKBOARD PAINT PROJECTS

Ready for Christmas and birthday projects?!

I'm spraying everything with chalkboard paint
to create unique gifts and gift tags!

It's as easy as spraying chalkboard paint
on clean, dry surfaces!

(Next time I will wear plastic gloves.
I'm still cleaning black spray paint off my hands.)

Chalkboard paint comes in a variety of colors,
and costs between $7 to $8 for a spray can.

Make your own chalkboard paint,
or purchase chalkboard paint that is
applied with a brush.

Hobby Lobby has wonderful wooden tags for under 30 cents,
and an unfinished wood frame for $1.

Wood tags will make great gift tags,
and also Christmas ornaments

Remove the store labels from the back,
and sand off any sticky residue.

Make a chalkboard orb to place in a decorative bowl.
Write seasonal/holiday messages on the chalkboard orb.
Purchase this type of white styrofoam,
and shave off the raised line on the center with a razor.

Do NOT purchase porous  green styrofoam
for a chalkboard project

I tried it, and it does NOT turn out well.

DO NOT use this type green styrofoam for a chalkboard project.

Be sure all surfaces are clean and dry before spraying.

Sand surface with sandpaper if necessary,
and wipe away dust with a lint rag or damp rag.

Spray in a well ventilated area...outside if possible.

I found an old metal watering can to spray!

See the difference in the two round orbs?

The white one (on dowel rod) looks good.

The green one looks weird, and
could never be used as a chalkboard.

Paint the front and back of everything.

Let everything dry in a well ventilated area.

When everything is completely DRY -
use the side of a piece of chalk
to shade/cover the entire project.

This important step prepares the surface before writing on it.

 Purchase extra chalk -
one set for you to use on the project,
and another set to give as a gift
with your chalkboard projects!

It would be cute to hang one piece of chalk
from a string on each tag/ornament.

Give a box of colored and white chalk
with each large orb and frame.
