CONGRATULATIONS, 2014 GRADUATES!

My niece, Lacey N. Bush, graduates from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

My daughters, Sarah and Faith, graduate from high school.

What a journey it has been since our chosen children came from orphanages in China.  Sarah was six years old.  Faith was eight years old.

Sarah and Faith have grown "in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man."

This season, my kitchen table is filled with graduation announcements.

I created the graduation announcement in Microsoft Publisher, and had color copies made on heavy weight white cardstock at Home Depot.  The girls and I preferred the white cardstock paper to photo paper.

We discovered a fantastic graduation kit with double envelopes and inserts, stickers, and thank you cards at Office Depot.  I added the customized photo announcement, and ribbon to create a one-of-a-kind graduation announcement.  They are gorgeous.

We talked about hosting an open house to celebrate the girls' graduation like most families.  We decided against the open house, and joked about having a tailgate party at graduation.

The more we talked - the more we liked the idea of a tailgate party after graduation.

It works.

Although we are not pulling out the grill on the church parking lot, we are handing out homemade goodies to friends and family who attend graduation.

No one really wants to attend graduation anyway - so we decided to make it fun for our friends and family who do attend.

By the way - we're giving out jello shots with sweet treats in a take-out box.

I made these "Save the Date" Magnets, and put them inside the graduation announcements.  Copyright 2014 Marcia Norwood

Look for the cute GRAD PARTY sign on our red Nissan Quest.

That's the way this homeschooling, tailgating, out-of-the-box family rolls.

FYI - I would never serve alcohol to minors.  I don't drink alcoholic beverages myself, and I would never take alcohol to church.  Are you kidding?!  I do like to stir things up a bit.

College students didn't invent "jello shots."  Do you think all jello shots are alcoholic?  Think again.

The jello shots my girls love were a part of their life in China.  We still get them at the Chinese Market in Kansas City, Missouri.

We made "Save the Date" magnets to include in the graduation invitations.  Some will be mailed, some we  hand delivered.   Faith wore her "Autograph Graduation Cap," and got her first signatures on the white cap. Sarah and Faith's caps and gowns will be black at the ceremony.

I created the "Save the Date" cards  (as an Avery LABEL)  in Microsoft Publisher, and then added the cards to the self-adhesive ProMAG magnets that we purchased at Office Depot.

This photo is BLURRY - but it shows you the ProMAG Magnetic product that we purchased at Office Depot.    Copyright 2014 Marcia Norwood
