Wisteria is a showstopper.

Wisteria blooms in the spring
                 with fragrant grape-like clusters.

Want to add privacy to sturdy pergolas?

                       Wisteria is a great choice.

Be certain the structure is able to support the  growth of the strong Wisteria vines.

Note:  Some types of wisteria are considered invasive pests - so check for any city or local restrictions before planting it.

All parts of Wisteria - especially the seeds are poisonous.

Perhaps that's why the fictional street on the U.S. television drama series Desperate Housewives was named Wisteria Lane:  beautiful and fragrant on the outside yet poisonous.

The set for Wisteria Lane is located inside Universal Studios Hollywood, and is actually named Colonial Street.  It's an area that has been used for many motion pictures and television shows...including the original Leave It to Beaver series, Gremlins, The Burbs, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

"The slightest breeze stirred the heady perfume of
lavender wisteria blooms
as they fell gently from their perch on the overhead pergola.
I exchanged my favorite perfume, Shalimar ™, and my Mary-Kay ™  make-up
for Oak-N-Ivy CalaGel ™, Tecnu™,  and Calamine Lotion.
I gained ten pounds for every dose of steroids I swallowed
to get rid of the poison, oak, ivy and sumac.
Let's see . . . four doses that year,
and by the time the wisteria covered the entire pergola . . .
I was too heavy to sit in the porch swing.
