I love bluebirds.

When I was a little girl I was a member of the Sunny Blue Bird group in Liberty, Missouri.

Blue Birds
were the junior organization
to the Camp Fire Girls.

The program was launched in 1912, but the organization goes back to 1910 when the pre-Camp Fire Girls group      "Pioneer Girls of America" was started.

The age a girl could join Blue Birds changed over the years, but the motto remained the same - Sing, Grow, Help!

I still have my Blue Bird hat and vest, and I can still sing the song from memory.

"Worship God.
Mmm. Mmm..."

Here's a video of boys and girls singing the song:

I love bluebirds.

I named her Birdie...

partly because, well...she is a bird,

                  and also as a namesake

                           for the character, Birdie

in one of my favorite movies, "HOPE FLOATS."

       actually need us
as much as we need them.
