The first time I memorized Psalm 100 was when I helped my daughter, Kristin, memorize it when she was in Kindergarten at Independence Christian School. A
few years later, son Benjamin memorized it, too. I taught Psalm 100 to all of
my students in my preschool and Kindergarten classes at I.C.S. and at
Timothy Lutheran.
Our family recites Psalm 100 each Thanksgiving! We have much to be thankful for, and a thankful heart begins with giving thanks to GOD.

I spent 12 years in Kindergarten and Preschool...as a teacher, and I had just as much fun as the children.

Here are samples of my personal
class newsletters and calendars,
and samples of some of my
correspondence to parents.
I handed out copies of
calendars and newsletters to parents,
emailed copies to parents,
and posted letter-size copies,
as well as enlarged copies in our classroom.
It is my hope that these samples
will help
caregivers,
teachers,
parents and
grandparents
around the world
as they prepare
creative activities for children.
My newsletters show what activities we did each month;
when letters and numbers are introduced;
and what Bible lessons and memory verses we learned.
We had "Show and Tell" every Friday.
I requested the children bring one item
that began with the letter
we learned that week.
Show and Tell was GREAT FUN!
Some children brought people whose name began
with the Letter of the Week as their Show and Tell item!
Others brought treats that began
with the Letter of the Week.

I used the ABEKA Book curriculum
from Pensacola, Florida.
It is a GREAT way to teach children to read.
Here's how I taught
preschool and Kindergarten students
how to read. It's fun and easy.
The kids think it's a game,
and there's NO pressure.
Use the phonics approach,
and introduce letters (one a week):
1) Short vowel sounds
a in apple
e in elephant
i in indian
o in ostrich
u in umbrella.
2) Sound of consonants
3) blends
(consonants and short vowel sounds)
ta, te, ti, to, tu
4) words
with consonants plus short vowel sounds
(cat, bat, hat, egg, leg, log)
5) long vowel sounds
(i in icicle.....)
6) RULES
One Vowel Rule
"When there is one vowel in a word,
it usually says it's short sound."

Two Vowel Rule
"When there are two vowels in a world,
the first one says its long sound,
and the second one is silent."
(mate)
7) Exceptions to the rules:
Long o as is "go"
Long e as in "me"

I also used the ABEKA Book curriculum

Neither spoke any English when they were adopted
at six years and eight years of age.
