Congratulations to Vickie and JoAnn

for another fantastic publication:

I'm working my way through Vickie and JoAnn's 102 "Boo-tiful recipes, crafts, and decorating ideas."

Best of Halloween  is on sale until 11/28/14.  The price is $11.99 in the USA, and $14.99 in Canada.  It's well worth the price to me.  I've saved at least $11.99 by cooking some of the recipes, and eating at home rather than going out to eat.

Here are three recipes from the magazine that my family and I love!

RECIPE
Pull-Apart Loaf

Sourdough bread!

Sourdough bread!

Did I mention SOURDOUGH BREAD?!

This round loaf of sourdough bread is filled with Monterey Jack cheese, green onions melted butter and sliced olives!

Next time I make this - I will cut the sections wider -- not so close together - -so the cheese will go down further into the loaf.

RECIPE:  Pull-Apart Loaf

1 Round Loaf Sourdough Bread
1 Pound Monterey Jack Cheese, Sliced
1/2 Cup Butter, Melted
2 to 3 Teaspoon Poppy Seed
Garnish:  Sliced Olives, Chopped Onion

Score bread lengthwise and crosswise without cutting through the bottom.  Insert cheese slices between cuts.  Combine remaining ingredients and drizzle over bread.  Wrap loaf in aluminum foil; place on an ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.  Unwrap loaf and return to oven.  Bake an additional 10 minutes,  uncovered, until cheese is melted.  Top with olives and onion.  Makes 10 to 15 servings.

    RECIPE
 Green Bean (Bone) Bundles

I didn't buy long green beans, so instead of making "bone bundles" (as in bones for Halloween skeletons) - we chopped up the bacon, and made a green bean casserole with the same ingredients.

My family liked this so well that I made one batch, and it was gone in minutes.  So - I immediately made another batch.
