RECIPE: EASTER SUGAR COOKIES

My favorite sugar cookie recipe was handed down to me from my mother. Our kids called her Mema. She got the recipe from her mother, my Granny Lucille. I passed the recipe to my daughters and granddaughters, and now to you!

Recipe: Sugar Cookies

Directions

Cream together...

3/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Butter,
2 Eggs, and
1 Teaspoon Vanilla together.

Sift...

2 Cups Flour
2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt together.

Mix flour mixture into the sugar/better/egg/vanilla mixture.

Chill dough...at least 20 minutes.

Roll out dough on a floured surface, and cut with cookie cutters.
Bake on cookie sheets at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes.

Makes 2 - 3 dozen cookies (depending on size of cookie cutter).

Sprinkle with powdered sugar, or top with icing and decorations.

Note: Sometimes I make my own icing, but usually I purchase icing already made. It's also fun to melt chocolate wafers and dip cookies in melted chocolate or top cookies with melted chocolate.
