Cardinals are also called redbirds.  This beloved bird is the official bird of seven U.S. states.  Bright red cardinals are easy to identify.  Only males sport the brilliant red plumage.  Females are an attractive tan/gray.
Cardinals do not migrate, and have expanded their common range in recent decades to the north United States and even into Canada.

Male redbirds  feed their monogamous partners as they incubate cluthes of eggs - usually three per season.

Males are social with other species, but frequently attack other males who intrude on their territory in mating season.    Sometimes they fly into glass windows because they charge an "intruding bird" that is actually their own reflection.

Cardinals sing a variety of different melodies.

Valentine's Day Countdown:  17 Days
HANDMADE HEART PENDANTS
Wearable Art

These exquisite handmade heart pendants are filled with vintage buttons and beads.

I saved my broken pearl necklaces that once belonged to my mother and grandmother, and re-used the pearls and charms in heart pendants, and added seed beads and buttons.

A friend gifted me with beautiful antique and vintage buttons.

I used Diamond Glaze to glue to buttons, beads and charms in the blank heart pendants, and also as a glaze on top

Let all pendants dry for 24 hours.
