INDEPENDENCE DAY: HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA!

Happy Birthday, USA!

July 4, 2016

I was born about 15 minutes after midnight on July 5th, but we always celebrated my birthday on July 4th.  That's when all my family:  aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents all gathered for the annual 4th of July celebration.

There was always lots of food, fun, and fireworks, and of course, my birthday cake.  I actually thought the entire country celebrated my birthday  until I was about five years old,  when I discovered it was the birth date of the United States of America.

I like sharing my birthday with my country,  although it can be confusing to cake decorators.  One year, the greeting on the cake my family ordered for my birthday was misspelled.  It said:  "Happy Birthday Merica" -- a combination of "Happy Birthday, America," and "Happy Birthday Marcia."

This year, my daughter, Faith, revived the tradition, and ordered a special cake for me that said:  "Happy Birthday, Merica."  I love her sense of humor!

July 4, 2016, we'll be celebrating my birthday, and the birth of our country, and we'll say a prayer that  if  GOD's people here and around the world, will humble themselves, pray, seek His face, turn from our wicked ways, then GOD will forgive our sin, and heal our land.

 Happy Birthday, America!
 WE THE PEOPLE

America, (the United States of America) will be 238 years old on July 4, 2014.

Our family will celebrate Independence Day(like most Americans) with a gathering of family and friends for a feast and fireworks.

The Declaration of Independence, dated July 4, 1776, announced the American colonies succession from Britain, and gave way to American Independence Day.

Native Indian tribes lived in North America before the US mainland was explored by Europeans...Spaniards in the early 16th Century.

The US Constitution was adopted in 1787.

Thanks to Schoolhouse Rock - I can still sing the Preamble to the US Constitution.   Won't you sing along?

The Preamble to The US Constitution

The Preamble to the United States Constitution is a brief introductory statement of the Constitition's fundamental purposes and guiding principles.  It states in general terms, and courts have referred to it as reliable evidence of, the Founding Fathers' intentions regarding the Constitution's meaning and what they hoped the Constitution would achieve.

We the People of the United States
in order to form a more perfect union,
establish justice,
insure domestic tranquility,
provide for the common defence,
promote the general welfare,
and secure the blessings of liberty
to ourselves and our posterity,
do ordain and establish
this constitution for the
United States of America.

2014
A Tribute to

American Heroes!

Sometimes  you meet a person who changes your life.

That's a blessing.

Sometimes -  if you are in the right place at the right time - you have the opportunity to meet a person who changes history
That's destiny.
Today, you just happen to be in the right place at the right time.
You have the opportunity to meet someone who changed history,  and not just one person - but twelve people whose incredible stories will challenge history as you know it.
They have been called "The Disciples."  They are the twelve remaining members of a special elite team of the United States Army.  There were twenty-four members in the beginning.
They  came from different farms across the United States.
They were asked:  "Do you want to be remembered in the history books 20 years from now?  Do you want to serve your country and make your fellow Americans proud?"
That was 74 years ago.
Their story is not in the history books, yet.
