It's a cold day here in the heart of America.

I'm nice and warm sitting at the computer...

going through my photos of our getaway to Iowa.

We usually take Christmas photos at home,

but this year we had our first

"Destination Photo Shoot" - in Iowa of all places!

The American Gothic House was a

fantastic place for a photo shoot!

We drove 45 minutes north from

the American Gothic House in Eldon, Iowa,

to shop and take more photos in Pella, Iowa.

We travel to Pella each spring to attend

the Tulip Time Festival.

This was our first trip to Pella in cold weather.

It was beautiful in an entirely different way.

After you turn EAST off T-15,

follow the directions for one more turn.

You will drive past the Amsterdam School

on your way to Howell Station.

There are nice walking trails along the Des Moines River

at the Howell Station.

What a wonderful gift

my daughters, Faith and Sarah, gave to me

by going on our

Destination Christmas Photo Shoot.

My chosen children from China are growing up.

I missed the first six years with Sarah,

and the first eight years with Faith,

when they lived at orphanages in China.

Every day with them is precious.

Spending time with my girls

is the BEST Christmas gift I could ask for...

except to wish that my grandchildren

(Joshua, Emily, Caleb and Megan)

could have been with us.
