Powell Gardens, a not-for-profit botanical garden, east of Kansas City, Missouri, boasts that it's possible to see as many as 500 butterflies at any one time during the 2013 Festival of Butterflies...including 20 species from the American tropics, and fascinating moths from around the world.

Here are some of my favorite photos of my stroll through

the Butterfly Conservatory, the Butterfly Breezeway,
the Perennial Garden and Wildflower Meadow...
during the 2013 Festival of Butterflies at Powell Gardens.

This Atlas moth (the world's largest moth)  is REAL, and it's as big as my hand! (Butterfly Conservatory)

Do you see BOTH moths?  One is above on the moss/tree, and one is feeding on fruit in the tray.

Visitors are handed cards that identify the butterflies and moths.  Madagascar Moon "Comet" Moth and Sunset Moths are considered the most beautiful butterfly or moth in the world.

There's a comfortable chair in the shade waiting for you.
