FLAMING BUTTERBRICKLE CAKE

Recipe from:  Marcia Norwood, AMERICA'S STORYTELLER

This FLAMING BUTTERBRICKLE CAKE is sure to set your taste buds on fire

It makes a fantastic birthday cake because you light it - but there are no candles to count!

Bring out your blowtorch - or just a match to light up a ...

FLAMING BUTTERBRICKLE CAKE
  1. Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. Follow directions to bake a YELLOW CAKE from a BOX MIX.  (I replaced the oil called for in the box with MELTED BUTTER.)
  3. After baking - let cake cool one minute and turn out onto a tray or serving plate.
  4. Cool completely.
  5. Frost cake with COOL WHIP (8 ounces).
  6. Drain one can of  PEACH HALVES, and put aside.
  7. Grate two (2)  BUTTERFINGER CANDY BARS and sprinkle on top of COOL WHIP.
  8. Next space PEACH HALVES gently on top of  cake with COOL WHIP icing.
  9. Soak SUGAR CUBES in LEMON EXTRACT and place one SUGAR CUBE inside each PEACH HALF.
  10. Just before serving...light the cubes and watch it flame!
  11. When flames begin to subside...extinguish and remove the sugar cubes.
  12. For a real flair - be sure to turn out the lights before lighting the cake.

This week I used this recipe to make cupcakes - rather than using a 13 x 9-inch pan.  I did not have  peaches or sugar cubes in my pantry...so we enjoyed the cupcakes without setting anything on fire.

Our son, Ben, is not usually a fan of sweets - but he loved these!

Thanks for stopping by!
Come back again - and tell a friend!
