My mother made this cake for our family.

It is absolutely delicious!

Ingredients
  • 1 Box White Cake Mix
  • Plus all ingredients the box calls for (See Below)
  • 1 (3 ounce) packet Strawberry JELL-O
  • 1 CUP Boiling Water
  • 1 CUP Cold Water
  •  8 ounces Cool Whip thawed (or other whipped topping).
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 1/4 CUP  Powdered  Sugar
  • Sliced Strawberries

GREASE 13 x 9 inch cake pan.

BAKE cake according to box directions in a 9 x 13 inch pan.

The Betty Crocker cake mix I used called for:
1 and 1/4 CUP Water
1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil
(I used 1/3 Cup Butter)
3 Egg Whites

  POUR batter into cake pan.

BAKE cake according to box directions in a 9 x 13 inch pan.

When cake is done, COOL for about 15 minutes.

While cake is cooling, BOIL 1 CUP of water
in a medium sauce pan over medium heat on stove top.

ADD JELL-O packet to boiling water,
and STIR until completely dissolved.

Then STIR in  1 CUP of cold water.

Using a fork, POKE holes in the cake.

POUR JELL-O evenly over the top of the cake.

 COVER cake,
and PLACE in refrigerator for three (3) hours.

COMBINE:

  • 8 ounces Cool Whip thawed (or other whipped topping).
  •  1/4 teaspoon almond extract and
  • 1/4 CUP powdered sugar

in a medium bowl,
and STIR to combine.

SPREAD evenly over the top of the cake.

ARRANGE sliced strawberries
over the whipped topping as desired.

COVER cake and STORE  in refrigerator
for approximately one (1) hour until ready to serve.

 Yummy!

 Moist!

Strawberry goodness!

CHERRY MASH

Cherry Mash  has been a favorite candy bar of mine since I was a child in the 50's.

Go figure.  I like Cherry Mash candy bars, but I don't like cherry pie.  Maybe because the filling of the Cherry Mash candy bar isn't as sour a a cherry pie.

Cherry Mash is delicious as a candy bar, and it makes a great topping when melted and poured over ice cream.

Once, I posted in an online adoption group that Cherry Mash was my favorite candy bar.  Many people around the United States had no idea what I was talking about.

So - I purchased several Cherry Mash candy bars; ate a few myself;  and mailed the rest to everyone in the adoption group who wanted to try one.

How about you?  Have you ever heard of the third oldest candy bar in the United States?

Have you ever tasted the nostalgic goodness of a Cherry Mash?

There's even a Cherry Mash Song!

This special song is written by Cherry Mash fan, Jim Salestrom, an Emmy-award-winning singer/songwriter.

The Chase Candy Company has been making fine candies since 1876, including the world-famous Cherry Mash, the third-oldest candy bar in the country.

The family operated candy factory is located in historic St. Joseph, Missouri ― home to another American legend, outlaw Jesse James.

Chase still uses time-tested recipes and the finest, freshest ingredients to make candy the old-fashioned way. They have, however, upgraded equipment, and they are  capable of making 72,000 Cherry Mash candy bars in a day.  They use more than 15 tons of crushed maraschino cherries each year.

Check out how they make up to 72,000 Cherry Mash candy bars each day.

KINGSMAN, THE SECRET SERVICE

Marcia Norwood
America's STORYTELLER
Telling Untold Stories in Photographs, Prose and Public Speaking

Don't waste your money going to see Kingsman, The Secret Service, even though it has a great cast.

Kingsman, The Secret Service,  stars  Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Mark Strong.

By the way, Mark Strong looks  so much like one of Kansas City's favorite meteorologists, Gary Lezak, that I thought it was Gary.

The movie had such possibilities - but it all went wrong...very wrong.  I'll bet Gary Lezak is glad he's not in this film.

The killing scene inside a church was horrific.  It went on for what seemed like forever.   I closed my eyes and covered my ears throughout most of the scene.  I wish I had walked out of the theater at that point.

The spies in training (supposedly the good guys) are asked to kill the puppies they helped raise in order to become members of the Kingsman.    The guns were set on stun - but no one knew that.

The villain in the movie (played by Samuel L. Jackson) turns everyone into killers via a program on their cell phones.   In one scene, a baby girl is locked inside a bathroom while her mother attempts to hack through the door with a meat cleaver in an attempt to kill her child.

Why in the world someone would let their child be in this movie I will never understand.

The young man (played by Taron Egerton) who "saved the world" asked to f--- a princess in the rear as his reward. She was old enough to be his mother. The last scene of the movie was the princess'  bare butt.

Everyone is talking about Fifty Shades of Grey, but at least people know exactly what they are going to see when they go to see that movie.

Someone needs to tell the public that Kingsman, The Secret Service, is  not what it appears to be.

It's not a smart, sexy,  James-Bond-Type-Thriller.

It's a worthless, violent blood-fest.

It should be taken out of theaters.

Shame on the actors, producers and entire cast for producing this garbage.

Don't waste your money on Kingsman.
Take my word for it.

This movie should be taken out of theaters.
